Department of operative gynecology in Academician V.I. Gryshchenko Clinic for Reproductive Medicine, founded in 2004, is one of its structural subdivisions and works in close collaboration with the department of assisted reproductive technology (ART) while maintaining the continuity and high efficiency of treatment for infertility. Performing surgical intervention, the Clinic's specialists strive to maximally preserve the reproductive functions of the patients.
At the department of operative gynecology both diagnostic and therapeutic surgical interventions are conducted:
- Fertiloscopy, which effectively replaced radiological examination (metrosalpingography), is executed for accurate diagnosis of the fallopian tubes patency.
- Hysteroscopy from simple to complex diagnostic hystero-resectoscopy with the removal of nodes located in the uterine cavity (submucuos nodes), allows detecting and eliminating intrauterine pathology.
- Laparoscopy, often allowing patients achievement of the desired pregnancy without resorting to ART, is performed for the treatment of endometriosis, at tubo-peritoneal infertility, uterine leiomyoma, development anomalies of uterus and ovarian cysts.
- Laparotomy is used in rare cases when it’s not possible to carry out operation at laparoscopy access (at multiple large sized leiomyoma, atypical localization of nodes, etc.).
Department of operative gynecology is equipped exclusively with high-quality modern endoscopic equipment of the world leaders: Karl Storz and Richard Wolf.
In the operating unit, anesthesia machine Saturn Evo Color is used, equipped with multi-gas monitor, that allows performing low-flow inhalation anaesthesia with modern anaesthetics (Sevorane).
The important element of safety of operative interventions, performed at the Clinic’s department of operative gynecology, is the high standards of sterilization of instruments, which is ensured through the application of the apparatus STERRAD, which operating principle is using of hydrogen peroxide gas plasma.
